Takao Hayato of ONE N’ ONLY and actress Shida Kohaku have been confirmed as the lead actors of the upcoming Japanese television drama Onna no Ko ga Daicha Dame desu ka?, which is adapted from the romantic comedy manga of the same name by Nejiganameta. The series explores gender roles and emotional dynamics within romantic relationships, focusing on the contrast between a man who longs to be embraced and a woman who wishes to take the initiative.

Shida Kohaku plays Kajitani Mitsuki, an elegant and attractive woman who places great importance on her appearance and has accumulated considerable dating experience. Despite this, Mitsuki dislikes being led or controlled by men, and as a result, she has not been able to maintain a long-term relationship even at the age of 24. Her life takes a turn when she begins dating Shinomiya Takayuki, portrayed by Takao Hayato, an accomplished employee at a prestigious trading company.
As their relationship progresses, an unexpected situation arises on their wedding night. Shinomiya behaves awkwardly during moments of intimacy due to unresolved psychological trauma and deep-seated insecurities that prevent him from fully expressing himself. Witnessing his embarrassment and sincere apology, Mitsuki experiences a genuine emotional connection for the first time. She begins to question traditional assumptions that women should remain passive in relationships and becomes more aware of her own desire to take an active role.
Through Mitsuki’s guidance and understanding, Shinomiya gradually opens up and confronts the emotions he has long kept hidden. Their relationship develops into a journey of mutual healing and growth, offering a nuanced portrayal of intimacy, vulnerability, and emotional balance.
Onna no Ko ga Daicha Dame desu ka? is scheduled to premiere on March 5 in the “drama phil” time slot on MBS and other television networks.
