ENA’s upcoming healing romance drama Doctor on the Edge has unveiled new character stills of Shin Ye Eun, offering a closer look at the actress’s transformation into a compassionate nurse carrying hidden emotional scars.
The drama follows public health doctor Do Ji Eui, played by Lee Jae Wook, who is unexpectedly assigned to the remote island village of Pyeondong. There, he meets nurse Yook Ha Ri, portrayed by Shin Ye Eun, whose sudden return to her hometown hides a deeper secret. Together, the two gradually become involved in the lives of the island’s residents while learning about healing, connection, and love.

The newly released stills highlight Yook Ha Ri’s bright and approachable personality. In several photos, Shin Ye Eun radiates warmth with a gentle smile and attentive demeanor, embodying a nurse who sincerely cares for the people around her. Her easygoing and lively energy also hints at the comforting atmosphere she brings to the small island community.
At the same time, other images reveal a more emotionally burdened side of the character. Ha Ri appears visibly troubled and lost in thought, raising curiosity about why she abruptly left a prestigious university hospital behind and returned to Pyeondong.
Speaking about why she chose the project, Shin Ye Eun explained that the drama’s rural medical setting immediately stood out to her. She shared that the unique concept of a public health doctor, combined with the warmth and complexity of the island residents, made the story especially appealing.
Describing her character, the actress said Yook Ha Ri is someone overflowing with affection for others—so much so that she can occasionally come across as overly involved in people’s lives. However, beneath that warmth lies both emotional strength and quiet resilience.
Shin Ye Eun also revealed that portraying Ha Ri required navigating rapid emotional transitions throughout the story. Because the character experiences a wide range of feelings over a relatively short period of time, she focused heavily on maintaining emotional continuity while capturing the gradual evolution of Ha Ri’s inner world.
To prepare for the role realistically, Shin Ye Eun reportedly researched the nursing profession extensively. She sought advice from medical professionals, watched reference videos, listened to real-life stories, and studied the emotional and practical realities of nurses in order to portray both the warmth and professionalism of the character authentically.
Blending medical healing drama elements with small-town romance and emotional mystery, Doctor on the Edge is already drawing attention for its comforting atmosphere and emotionally grounded storytelling.
Doctor on the Edge premieres on June 1 at 10 p.m. KST.
