Introduction to the New Online Arrival Card System

In a significant move to enhance the travel experience for foreign visitors, the South Korean government recently announced that travelers can now submit their arrival cards online, up to three days before their arrival in the country. This initiative is set to simplify the immigration process, moving away from the traditional paper forms that were previously required at airports.

Benefits of Online Submission

The shift to electronic arrival cards comes as a relief to many travelers who often found the manual completion of paper forms cumbersome and time-consuming. Prior to this change, immigration officers had to scan each form individually, contributing to delays and congestion at airports. According to the Korea Herald, the online submission system is anticipated to streamline this process, making it faster and more efficient for both travelers and immigration officials.

How to Complete Your Arrival Card

Foreign nationals planning to visit South Korea for 90 days or less can now complete and submit their official electronic arrival card through the website www.e-arrivalcard.go.kr. The electronic card must be submitted at least 72 hours before travel, as it will lose its validity if the traveler does not enter South Korea within this time frame. This advancement in the immigration process not only aims to ease airport congestion but also supports the South Korean government’s broader efforts to attract more international tourists.
