Introduction to New Route
On March 30, Vietnam Airlines commenced a significant step in its expansion strategy with the launch of a direct flight service from Ho Chi Minh City to Beijing. This new route connects Vietnam’s bustling economic hub with the world’s largest airport terminal, Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), an infrastructure marvel designed to streamline air travel.
Flight Operations and Schedule
The inaugural flight departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 0:45 a.m. and arrived at Daxing International Airport at 6:30 a.m. (local time). The return flight took off at 8:30 a.m. and landed back in Ho Chi Minh City at 12:25 p.m. on the same day. The airline will operate this route five times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, utilizing the Airbus A321 aircraft. With this addition, Vietnam Airlines now offers six routes between Vietnam and China, with a total of 40 flights per week.
Connecting Cultures and Boosting Tourism
This service is expected to meet the increasing demand for travel between Vietnam and China, particularly as more than 3.7 million Chinese visitors traveled to Vietnam in 2024, marking a 214% increase from the previous year. Beijing Daxing International Airport, renowned for its advanced facilities, reduces travel time to downtown Beijing to just 40–50 minutes. Furthermore, in celebration of its 30th anniversary from 1995 to 2025, Vietnam Airlines plans to open and resume 15 international routes, highlighting its commitment to enhancing global connectivity.
