Delta’s New Expansion at Tampa International Airport

Tampa International Airport (TPA) is embarking on a significant development with Delta Airlines set to play a pivotal role in the airport’s future. The recent announcement of a new $1.5 billion Terminal D, designed to cater to the growing passenger traffic, marks a major milestone for both the airline and the airport. Delta will have access to at least six gates in this state-of-the-art facility, enhancing connectivity for its travelers.

New SkyClub and Increased Flight Offerings

As part of this expansion, Delta will introduce a new SkyClub within the terminal, elevating the travel experience for frequent flyers. Currently, Delta operates a variety of domestic and international routes from Tampa, maintaining direct flights to major hubs, including Atlanta, Boston, New York (JFK and LGA), Minneapolis, and an international connection to Amsterdam. Furthermore, a direct flight to Austin, Texas, is anticipated soon. The existing SkyClub near Gate 68 in Concourse E will continue to serve passengers during this transition.

Looking Towards the Future

The forecast for the new terminal indicates an opening slated for 2028, augmenting TPA’s capacity to welcome 37 million travelers annually. This ambitious project also includes the introduction of a new shuttle system, an international passenger arrival processing facility, as well as enhanced shopping and dining options. Tampa Airport CEO Joe Lopano emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, ‘This agreement will bring a world-class airline to what will be a world-class facility.’ With Delta’s commitment to TPA, passengers can look forward to an elevated travel experience in the years to come.
