On January 13, media outlets reported that actress Go Min Si has confirmed her appearance in the upcoming film Moral Family (literal title) and is preparing for her first filming. In response, her agency MYSTIC STORY stated, “It is true that Go Min Si will appear in ‘Moral Family.’”

Moral Family depicts the story of a bizarrely dysfunctional household. The narrative centers on Kim Seon Ji, a woman who has supported her family for 13 years by working at a bar after her mother ran away. Her siblings include an older brother suffering from severe alcoholism, a younger sister who aggressively markets herself through adult internet broadcasts, and a younger brother who comes out as gay and announces his intention to leave home. The fragile family dynamic is further shaken when their mother, who disappeared 15 years earlier, suddenly returns.
The project was originally staged as a theatrical play in 2018 and drew attention at the time for being fully funded by actor Jung Woo Sung, with actress Kim Sun Young serving as producer. The film adaptation will be directed by Lee Seung Won, Kim Sun Young’s husband and the filmmaker behind Three Sisters. A script reading with the main cast is scheduled for January 16, with filming set to begin next month.
Go Min Si will portray Kim Seon Ji, the eldest daughter and de facto head of the family. The character is described as having a sharp and attractive appearance, appearing cold on the surface while remaining emotionally vulnerable, expressing herself harshly yet easily brought to tears.
Moral Family marks Go Min Si’s return to the big screen following the critically recognized 2025 film The World of Love. It is also her first leading role in a feature film since Smugglers in 2023. Filming is scheduled to begin next month.
