The film Yamaguchi-kun wa Warukunai has revealed its main cast. Takahashi Kyohei from Naniwa Danshi will star as the male lead, with Takahashi Hikaru cast as the female lead and Iwase Yoji playing the female lead’s rival.
This live-action adaptation is based on the popular manga of the same name by Saiki Yu, which has sold a total of 2.1 million copies. The film is directed by Moriya Kentaro, known for PRINCE OF LEGEND, Seaside Motel, and Qros no Onna.
The story follows a youthful romance. Satsuki Shinohara (Takahashi) is a dreamy girl who longs for love. She meets Asuka Yamaguchi (Takahashi), a new transfer student with a fierce appearance and a sharp Kansai accent. Yet beneath his intimidating exterior, Yamaguchi is kind-hearted and pure, creating a charming contrast between appearance and personality.
Yamaguchi-kun wa Warukunai is scheduled for release on June 5, offering audiences a warm and youthful love story.
