MBC’s upcoming drama Perfect Crown has released new details highlighting the relationship between Lee Jae Won and Chae Seo An, who portray a married couple with a long shared history in the series.

Set in an alternate universe where modern-day Korea operates as a constitutional monarchy, Perfect Crown centers on the story of Sung Hee Joo, played by IU, a wealthy chaebol heiress who possesses everything except noble status, and Grand Prince Yi An, portrayed by Byeon Woo Seok, a prince who ironically has little power despite his royal lineage. Within this complex world of power and family rivalry, the characters played by Lee Jae Won and Chae Seo An form another important emotional storyline.

In the drama, Lee Jae Won takes on the role of Sung Tae Joo, the eldest son of Castle Group and the half-brother of Sung Hee Joo. Unlike his ambitious sister, Sung Tae Joo struggles under the expectations of his powerful family while competing for the position of heir to the conglomerate. His wife Han Da Young, portrayed by Chae Seo An, comes from an influential political family as the daughter of a former justice minister.

Unlike the contractual marriage between Sung Hee Joo and Grand Prince Yi An in Perfect Crown, the relationship between Sung Tae Joo and Han Da Young is built on years of romance before marriage. The couple is portrayed as deeply devoted to one another, sharing a stable and affectionate partnership that contrasts with the political alliances surrounding them. However, Han Da Young also holds strong ambitions, hoping to support her husband in rising above family pressure and eventually becoming the most accomplished man in their world.
As Perfect Crown explores the intertwined dynamics of power, family expectations, and romantic relationships, the story of Sung Tae Joo and Han Da Young adds another dimension to the drama’s narrative, offering viewers a look at a marriage shaped by both loyalty and ambition.
