Actor Baek Sung Chul has officially joined the cast of the upcoming ENA romantic comedy Dream to You (working title), marking another step in his steady career progression. With a storyline centered on dreams, reality, and second chances, the project places Baek Sung Chul alongside Hwang In Youp, Hyeri, and Lee Yul Eum, drawing attention to both its cast lineup and thematic direction.

Written by Jung Eun Bi, known for her work on Goblin and Doom at Your Service, Dream to You follows the reunion between two individuals whose lives have taken very different paths. Hwang In Youp plays Woo Soo Bin, a genius film director who returns after achieving his dreams, while Hyeri portrays Jo Yi Jae, a reporter who has gradually lost sight of her own ambitions. Their encounter sets the foundation for a story that blends romance with reflections on personal growth and unfulfilled aspirations.

Within this narrative, Baek Sung Chul takes on the role of Shim Yoo Geon, a minor actor struggling to establish himself in Seoul. Dreaming of becoming South Korea’s version of Takeshi Kaneshiro, Shim Yoo Geon continues to pursue acting despite the harsh realities of his circumstances. Coming from a provincial background, he must balance his artistic ambitions with the practical need to survive in a competitive industry.

The character is defined by persistence and quiet resilience. Shim Yoo Geon believes that consistent effort will eventually lead to success, yet as time passes, opportunities become increasingly scarce. This tension between hope and uncertainty forms the emotional core of the role, allowing Baek Sung Chul to explore the internal struggles of youth confronting the limits of their dreams. Through this portrayal, Baek Sung Chul is expected to deliver a grounded and relatable performance.

The addition of Baek Sung Chul to Dream to You further enriches the drama’s exploration of ambition and reality. While the central storyline focuses on reunion and romance, Shim Yoo Geon’s journey introduces a parallel perspective—one that reflects the quieter, often overlooked challenges faced by those still striving to achieve their goals.

Scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2026, Dream to You positions Baek Sung Chul within a narrative that balances emotional introspection with romantic storytelling. As anticipation builds, this role may serve as another opportunity for Baek Sung Chul to deepen his screen presence and connect with audiences through a character shaped by perseverance and self-doubt.
