Member of i-dle, Shuhua, is set to take a significant step in her career by making her big screen debut as the lead in the Chinese-language film Happy and Joyful Days. The announcement, confirmed by Cube Entertainment on March 26, marks Shuhua’s first appearance in a feature film and signals her expansion into acting.
Directed by Feng-I Fiona Roan, Happy and Joyful Days centers on two sisters with contrasting personalities whose quiet daily lives begin to shift following the unexpected arrival of a stray cat. Within this narrative, Shuhua plays Lin Jia Qi, the youngest sister characterized by her innocence and cheerful nature. After taking in the stray cat, Lin Jia Qi gradually experiences subtle changes in her perspective on life, shaped by the relationships she forms along the way. Through this role, Shuhua takes on a character that blends warmth with emotional depth, positioning Happy and Joyful Days as a story rooted in everyday transformation.

Speaking about her acting debut, Shuhua expressed a desire to reveal a new side of herself. She noted that while Lin Jia Qi’s bright and emotional personality shares similarities with her own, the character’s internal struggles—particularly her tendency to worry about the future while avoiding it—present a meaningful challenge. By approaching the role at her own pace, Shuhua aims to bring authenticity to Lin Jia Qi and offer audiences a different perspective on her as a performer.
The project also draws attention due to its director, Feng-I Fiona Roan, who has received recognition at the Golden Horse Awards, including Best New Director, the FIPRESCI Prize, and the Audience Award. Her previous work, American Girl, was widely praised, adding further expectations to Happy and Joyful Days as a character-driven film.

Alongside her acting activities, Shuhua continues to remain active with i-dle. The group is currently on their fourth world tour, Syncopation, with upcoming stops in Australia, Singapore, Yokohama, Hong Kong, and major cities across North America. In addition, i-dle is scheduled to perform at the major music festival Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31, further highlighting their global presence.
With Happy and Joyful Days, Shuhua embarks on a new chapter that extends beyond music, balancing her ongoing activities with i-dle while exploring her potential as an actress.
