A recent industry event in Beijing has drawn attention after signs of reconciliation emerged between two long-opposed talent management teams. At the celebration banquet for the drama Zhu Yu: Jade of Destiny (《逐玉》), the managers of Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei were seen standing side by side and toasting together—an image widely interpreted as the end of a nearly decade-long conflict.

The dispute dates back to earlier industry tensions surrounding casting order and billing hierarchy. During the 2017 drama Begonia Blossoms Again (《海棠经雨胭脂透》), disagreements over lead credit reportedly triggered friction between the two sides. Subsequent project changes and casting adjustments in later productions further intensified the situation, with both camps at times engaging in indirect public responses through media channels.

Over the years, this behind-the-scenes conflict extended beyond management circles and began to affect the actors themselves. Reports suggested that Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei were often kept apart during public events, with limited opportunities for joint appearances despite participating in the same projects.

However, the release of Zhu Yu appears to have shifted the dynamic. The drama achieved strong commercial performance across multiple platforms, including simultaneous streaming records and notable international reception. This success is widely seen as a key factor in easing tensions, as shared project outcomes began to outweigh prior conflicts.

Images from the banquet quickly circulated online, with viewers interpreting the managers’ interaction as a symbolic “ice-breaking” moment. The response also extended to audience discussions, where calls for a renewed collaboration between Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei have grown, including suggestions for future dramas or variety show appearances.

Within the broader industry context, this development has been viewed as indicative of a changing environment. As market pressures and performance metrics become more central, collaborative outcomes may increasingly take precedence over longstanding personal or professional disputes.

Whether this moment represents a lasting reconciliation remains to be seen. Nevertheless, it highlights how commercial success can reshape relationships within the entertainment ecosystem, potentially opening the door for new creative partnerships.
