Jung Kyung Ho, Jeon Yeo Been, Choi Dae Hoon, and Kang Mal Geum are officially set to star together in the upcoming romantic comedy Unshakable Forties’ Romance.
The drama is described as a mature and emotionally layered romance centered on two people in their forties — an age often said to be beyond temptation — who unexpectedly find themselves drawn toward each other while trying to revive both a failing television program and their own long-dormant feelings.

Previously, Jung Kyung Ho was confirmed to play Na Yi Jun, the star anchor of YCB’s newsroom. Na Yi Jun is portrayed as a near-perfect elite figure who grew up in an ordinary middle-class household, achieved a perfect score on his college entrance exams, and eventually became the youngest news anchor in the network’s history. However, despite his flawless image, his career begins to unravel when he is removed from the main news desk and reassigned to a struggling low-rated program.
There, he encounters Seo Hae Yoon, played by Jeon Yeo Been, a rough-edged broadcast writer known for chasing sensational stories and ratings above all else. Having spent more than a decade moving through different news stations, Seo Hae Yoon has endured countless setbacks and developed a survival-first mentality. For her, increasing viewership matters more than elegance or prestige, even if that means turning gossip into headlines.
As her already chaotic career faces collapse due to the possible cancellation of her program, the sudden arrival of Na Yi Jun only creates more tension. However, the two gradually begin awakening emotions they believed had long disappeared, leading to a romance shaped less by youthful fantasy and more by exhaustion, vulnerability, and emotional rediscovery.
The series is also drawing attention for its strong supporting cast.
Choi Dae Hoon will portray YCB reporter Ji Han Soo, a longtime friend of Na Yi Jun who once dreamed of becoming an anchor himself. Despite his ambitions, a critical pronunciation issue prevented him from achieving that goal. After suffering emotional scars from a failed first marriage despite being deeply loyal in love, Ji Han Soo still quietly longs for romance and connection.
Meanwhile, Kang Mal Geum takes on the role of Heo Mi Eun, a veteran broadcast writer who acts as an older-sister figure to Seo Hae Yoon. Unlike the glamorous ideals often portrayed in romance dramas, Heo Mi Eun values sincerity and loyalty over appearance when it comes to relationships.
According to the production team, filming will begin soon following the first script reading. They also expressed confidence in the chemistry between the cast, particularly highlighting the combination of Jung Kyung Ho and Jeon Yeo Been, alongside the grounded realism expected from Choi Dae Hoon and Kang Mal Geum.
Rather than focusing on youthful romance or idealized love stories, Unshakable Forties’ Romance appears set to explore the messier, more complicated emotional realities of adulthood — where loneliness, career burnout, regret, and late-blooming affection all coexist.
The drama is currently scheduled to air in the first half of 2027.
