The upcoming drama Saikai ~Silent Truth~, starring Takeuchi Ryoma with Inoue Mao in the lead female role, has announced the addition of Seto Koji and Watanabe Daichi to its cast. The series is based on the novel Saikai by Yokozeki Dai, winner of the 56th Edogawa Ranpo Prize, known for intricate plotting and psychological tension.

The story begins 23 years in the past, when sixth-grader Junichi and three classmates bury a gun used in a criminal case beneath a cherry tree on school grounds. Bound by this dangerous secret, the four eventually drift apart and disappear into separate lives. Decades later, Junichi—now a police officer—is assigned to investigate a murder case. During the investigation, he encounters Makiko, a former classmate and his first love, who now stands before him as a suspect. Adding to the shock, the weapon used in the crime is revealed to be the very gun the four of them buried long ago.
Seto Koji plays Kiyohara Keisuke, once an honors student and now a first-class architect. He is Makiko’s former husband and carries a hidden truth that ties him to the case. Watanabe Daichi portrays Sakuma Naoto, the gentle and reserved son of a local public figure, currently serving as an executive director at Sakuma Tochi Kaihatsu. He has quietly harbored feelings for Makiko since their first-grade days.
Saikai ~Silent Truth~ will air starting January 2026 in the Tuesday 21:00 slot on TV Asahi. Through its interwoven timelines and emotional complexity, the drama explores buried memories, lingering bonds, and the haunting weight of long-concealed secrets.
