The television drama Honmei janakya Yokatta noni, starring Higuchi Hina and Ikeda Masashi, has released its official poster along with the announcement of additional supporting cast members. Based on the manga of the same name by Mizutani Ai, the series is a live-action adaptation that explores an intense and emotionally charged form of adult romance.

Newly confirmed cast members include Kusakawa Naoya of ONE N’ ONLY, Mito Yuna, and Hibi Mikoto, adding further depth to the story’s interpersonal dynamics. The drama focuses on subtle emotional shifts and the complexities of desire, portraying relationships that exist in the gray areas between love, habit, and longing.

The story centers on Onuma Mihono, who works at a travel agency and has recently broken up with her boyfriend, a man she once considered marrying. As she comes to terms with turning 30, her life is disrupted by the arrival of a new coworker, Ureshino Eisei. Ten years earlier, the two shared a passionate physical relationship, though both now appear to have moved on.

Although Eisei maintains a distant and indifferent demeanor toward Mihono in public, his attitude changes when they are alone. Speaking to her in the same gentle tone he once used, he reawakens emotions she believed were long buried. Unable to grasp his true feelings, Mihono struggles with uncertainty, questioning whether she is someone he truly loves or merely a convenient presence. Caught between restraint and temptation, she finds herself drawn into a secret relationship she cannot openly define.

Honmei janakya Yokatta noni is set to premiere on January 8, airing late-night every Thursday on MBS and other regional networks. Through its restrained yet intimate storytelling, the drama examines the emotional dilemmas faced by adults when past connections resurface, challenging the boundaries between reason and desire.
