On January 4, the production team of the upcoming drama Empathy Cell confirmed that Kim Myung Soo will take on the lead role. The series centers on the concept of emotional transference, telling a romance story between a woman who rejects empathy and a man who is burdened by an overwhelming capacity to feel the emotions of others.

Kim Myung Soo will portray Cha Eun Hwan, a man who absorbs the emotions of those around him. Cha Eun Hwan is a psychological counseling expert known for his unconventional approach, which has brought him recognition in his field. However, after becoming entangled in an unexpected incident, the balance of his daily life and emotional state begins to unravel. As he falls into despair, a figure connected to his past reappears, bringing changes to both his life and emotional world.
The role is expected to highlight the inner confusion and transformation of a character who once had complete control over emotions but is suddenly confronted with an unfamiliar experience of emotional transference. The production team noted that the drama’s distinctive theme and character setup, combined with detailed psychological storytelling, aim to resonate strongly with viewers.
Kim Myung Soo has previously appeared in a wide range of projects, including Perfect Family, Dare to Love Me, Numbers, Royal Secret Agent, and Angel’s Last Mission: Love. Empathy Cell has entered production and is scheduled to air in the second half of the year, with further updates to be announced.
