JTBC’s upcoming historical drama Sacred Jewel has released its first character stills, offering an early look at a story that combines war, faith, and personal destiny. Starring Ahn Bo Hyun, Lee Sung Min, and Claudia Kim, the series is set against the backdrop of the Goryeo Dynasty in 1258, a time when the kingdom faces collapse after decades of war with Mongolia.
At the center of the narrative is a dangerous expedition tasked with retrieving a sacred relic known as the Avalokitesvara Bead, believed to possess divine power capable of protecting the nation. The mission unfolds as both a military operation and a personal journey, intertwining the fates of several key characters.
Ahn Bo Hyun takes on the role of Baek Gyeol, a former royal guard turned special commander of the expedition. Once driven by loyalty and love for the emperor’s daughter, he is assigned to a perilous mission that carries both political implications and personal consequences. His portrayal hints at a character balancing restraint with emotional depth.
Opposite him, Lee Sung Min plays Choi Gu, a veteran commander leading the elite Goryeo unit “Yabyeolcho.” Having survived numerous battles, Choi Gu embodies experience and authority. His hardened exterior reflects years of warfare, positioning him as both a guide and counterbalance to Baek Gyeol’s relative inexperience.
Claudia Kim appears as Princess Wang Hee, whose composed and distant demeanor conceals a history marked by political sacrifice and personal loss. Her encounter with Baek Gyeol introduces emotional tension into the narrative, suggesting a storyline that blends duty with unresolved чувства.
