Actor Byeon Woo Seok is officially joining the soundtrack lineup for the hit MBC romance drama Perfect Crown, participating personally as the singer of the series’ final OST track.

On May 11, Kakao Entertainment confirmed that Byeon Woo Seok’s OST song will be released on May 15. The track had previously been kept completely secret and was not included in the drama’s earlier announced soundtrack lineup, making its sudden reveal one of the biggest surprises for viewers ahead of the finale week.

The song was first teased briefly through a preview released after the May 9 broadcast. Even though only a short portion of the track appeared in the teaser, it immediately attracted strong attention online because of how emotionally connected it felt to the character of Grand Prince Ian, played by Byeon Woo Seok himself.

As Perfect Crown moves deeper into its final emotional arc, the relationship between Seong Hui Ju, portrayed by IU, and Grand Prince Ian continues to intensify amid growing political pressure, rumors, and personal sacrifice. Many viewers felt that Byeon Woo Seok’s voice added an even deeper emotional layer to the drama’s atmosphere, especially because the lyrics and tone appear closely tied to Ian’s tragic emotional journey.

Following the preview’s release, reactions quickly spread across Korean online communities and social media platforms. Many viewers expressed excitement over finally hearing Byeon Woo Seok participate directly in an OST, with comments describing the song as emotionally overwhelming and perfectly suited to the drama’s finale mood.

Attention surrounding the OST is especially high because Byeon Woo Seok’s portrayal of Grand Prince Ian has become one of the drama’s biggest talking points. Throughout the series, he has been praised for depicting a royal figure who outwardly possesses status and privilege while internally struggling against fate, political pressure, and emotional isolation. His romance storyline with IU has also become one of the most discussed aspects of the drama.

In recent episodes, viewers have particularly responded to his restrained emotional acting and the character’s desperation to protect the people he loves despite increasingly dangerous circumstances. Because of that, many fans believe his participation in the OST feels like a natural extension of Ian’s emotional narrative rather than simply a promotional addition.

Online reactions after the teaser included comments such as viewers saying they got chills the moment his voice appeared, while others predicted the track could become one of the drama’s biggest soundtrack hits.

Meanwhile, Perfect Crown, set in an alternate version of South Korea operating under a constitutional monarchy, continues to dominate ratings and online buzz as it heads toward its final week of broadcast.
