MBC’s hit romance drama Perfect Crown has unveiled intense new stills ahead of its second-to-final episode, raising anticipation for what may become one of the series’ most emotional turning points.
Set in an alternate version of modern Korea where the country still operates under a constitutional monarchy, Perfect Crown follows the complicated romance between Seong Hui Ju, played by IU, and Grand Prince Ian, portrayed by Byeon Woo Seok. Although Hui Ju is a wealthy chaebol heiress who seemingly has everything, she remains a commoner by status, while Prince Ian possesses royal blood but lives with emotional emptiness and personal loss.
The upcoming episode continues directly from the shocking ending of episode 10, when a sudden fire erupted inside the palace after Prince Ian entered the Pyeonjeon — the king’s office — at the request of Min Jung Woo, played by Noh Sang Hyun. The ominous incident immediately sparked fears over Prince Ian’s survival.
Newly released images show Seong Hui Ju rushing directly into the burning palace herself in a desperate attempt to rescue Prince Ian. Surrounded by towering flames and heavy smoke, Hui Ju searches frantically through the Pyeonjeon, her face filled with fear and determination as she refuses to abandon him despite the danger.
Meanwhile, Prince Ian is seen collapsed amid the thick smoke, intensifying concerns that another devastating tragedy may strike the royal family. Throughout the series, Prince Ian has already endured the deaths of both his mother and older brother, leaving viewers anxious over whether the palace fire could become yet another irreversible loss.
The drama also teases the involvement of Choi Hyun, played by Yoo Su Bin, and Do Hye Jeong, portrayed by Lee Yeon, who join forces in an effort to save the trapped couple. As chaos spreads throughout the palace, attention is now focused on whether Seong Hui Ju and Prince Ian will manage to escape the flames alive.
As Perfect Crown heads toward its finale, the emotional intensity surrounding the royal couple continues to grow. Much of the recent discussion surrounding the series has centered on the chemistry between IU and Byeon Woo Seok, particularly as the relationship between Hui Ju and Prince Ian becomes increasingly tragic and emotionally charged.
