Li Yunrui and Huangyang Tiantian have quietly become one of the more closely watched “growing together” pairings among younger Chinese actors. With the upcoming drama Ice Lake Rebirth marking their third collaboration, discussions surrounding their on-screen chemistry have noticeably intensified in recent months.
Their first major collaboration came through the youth period drama To Myself in 1999. In that series, the two portrayed a school-age pairing within a nostalgic 1990s coming-of-age setting. Because the drama leaned heavily into themes of friendship, adolescence, and emotional growth, many viewers immediately felt the two actors shared a particularly natural “childhood sweethearts” atmosphere.
Part of that appeal came from how complementary their screen images felt. Huangyang Tiantian carried a lively and emotionally expressive youthful energy, while Li Yunrui projected a gentler, scholarly type of softness. Together, they created the kind of understated youthful chemistry that audiences often describe as feeling effortless rather than overly manufactured.

The pair later reunited in Perfect Match, though under very different circumstances. Li Yunrui only made a friendship-style guest appearance in the series, while Huangyang Tiantian played Le Shan. Because of the dramatic shift in relationship dynamics compared to their previous project, many viewers jokingly commented online that they had gone “from CP to accidental father-daughter vibes.” Ironically, that contrast ended up making audiences even more aware of their repeated collaborations.
Now, however, the biggest attention is focused on their third project together, Ice Lake Rebirth.
The drama already carried significant pre-release discussion because of its connection to the larger Princess Agents universe. In the new project, Li Yunrui takes on the role of Zhuge Yue, while Huangyang Tiantian portrays Chu Qiao, placing both actors under considerable public scrutiny as audiences debate whether they can successfully inherit the emotional legacy associated with the original “Ice Lake CP.”
Online reactions to their chemistry have been somewhat divided, though the overall tone remains more positive than negative.
Supporters of the pairing often describe them as a classic “atmosphere-driven CP.” Li Yunrui naturally gives off a calm, restrained, and slightly melancholic energy, while Huangyang Tiantian — despite still being very young — has already accumulated years of acting experience as a former child actress. Her emotional scenes and eye acting are frequently praised for feeling surprisingly mature and controlled for her age.
Because of that contrast, many viewers feel the two create a very specific emotional texture together: a mix of youthful tenderness and quiet fate-driven tragedy. Audiences especially believe this dynamic works well in emotionally layered stories involving growth, separation, or bittersweet romance.
Another factor strengthening public interest is the increasing sense of familiarity between them off-screen.
After working together multiple times, many viewers have noticed during interviews and behind-the-scenes clips that their interactions now appear much more relaxed and instinctive. They often laugh at the same moments, react quickly to each other’s jokes, and display a level of comfort that naturally develops after repeated collaborations. Li Yunrui himself once joked publicly that the two had become “almost too synchronized.”
Still, not everyone fully embraces the pairing as a romantic CP.
Some viewers feel their dynamic leans more toward a “growing-up together” or sibling-style relationship rather than a mature romance. Because Huangyang Tiantian is still relatively young, certain audiences believe stronger age-awareness remains visible in more emotionally intense romantic material.
Even so, Li Yunrui and Huangyang Tiantian now occupy a fairly unique position among younger actors. Continuous collaborations between rising performers are relatively uncommon in today’s industry, especially collaborations that allow audiences to watch both actors evolve over several years.
While they have not yet produced a truly explosive breakout CP phenomenon, their repeated partnerships, compatible screen atmospheres, and simultaneous career growth have steadily increased public curiosity about whether they may eventually become one of the more memorable long-term on-screen pairings of their generation.
