Upcoming Japanese film Ano Hoshi ga Furu Oka de, Kimi to Mata Deaitai has officially announced additional cast members as anticipation builds for the sequel to one of 2023’s biggest surprise box office hits.
The film stars Haruka Fukuhara in the lead role and recently confirmed that Kanata Hosoda, Chieko Baisho, Hana Toyoshima, and Kai Inowaki have joined the cast.
Meanwhile, Masaharu Fukuyama will once again perform the theme song, continuing his involvement from the previous film.

Sequel to a Major Box Office Success
The new movie serves as a follow-up to Ano Hana ga Saku Oka de, Kimi to Mata Deaetara, which starred Haruka Fukuhara and Koshi Mizukami.
Released in 2023, the original film became a major commercial success, earning approximately 4.5 billion yen at the Japanese box office.
Both films are adapted from novels by Natsue Shiomi.
The original story centered on a tragic romance between a modern-day high school girl who travels back to World War II-era Japan and falls in love with a kamikaze pilot.
Story Picks Up Seven Years Later
The sequel takes place seven years after Kano Yuri, played by Haruka Fukuhara, returns from 1945 to the present day.
She has since become a high school teacher—fulfilling the dream once cherished by Sakuma Akira—and is busy navigating life with her students.
However, her seemingly peaceful life changes when an unexpected person suddenly appears.
The mysterious arrival is expected to reopen emotional wounds tied to her past.
Returning Cast Members
Previously announced cast members Natsuki Deguchi and Kentaro Ito are also returning to reprise their roles from the first film.
Additional cast members include Tomoko Nakajima, Shusaku Kamikawa, Hayato Onozuka, and Keiko Matsuzaka.
With strong emotional nostalgia surrounding the original film, the sequel is already drawing considerable attention.
Ano Hoshi ga Furu Oka de, Kimi to Mata Deaitai is scheduled to premiere in Japan on August 7.
