Kwon Sang Woo is officially joining the cast of Study Group Season 2, where he’ll share the screen with Hwang Minhyun in a key new role.
According to TVING on April 23, Kwon Sang Woo has been confirmed to appear in the platform’s original series.
A Breakout Hit Returns
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Study Group follows Youn Ga Min, played by Hwang Minhyun.
The character dreams of becoming a top student academically but has one major problem—his real talent lies in fighting.
Set at a notoriously violent high school, the series combines action, comedy, and school drama as Youn Ga Min forms a study group while navigating brutal academic pressure and frequent physical confrontations.
The first season performed strongly both domestically and internationally, even ranking in the Top 5 across more than 140 regions on Viki.

Kwon Sang Woo’s New Role
In Season 2, Kwon Sang Woo will play Jeon Young Ha, Youn Ga Min’s uncle.
The character is responsible for teaching Youn Ga Min dangerous “forbidden fighting techniques,” adding another layer to the protagonist’s combat abilities.
Although he was eventually cut off by his sister after secretly training his nephew, Jeon Young Ha remains a warm-hearted and deeply supportive figure in Youn Ga Min’s life.
He is expected to serve as both a mentor and emotional support system throughout the new season.
Season 2 Already Filming
Following the strong response to Season 1, production for Study Group Season 2 was officially confirmed.
Filming reportedly began last month, signaling that the next chapter is already well underway.
With Kwon Sang Woo joining the cast, anticipation for the sequel continues to grow.
