When innocent civilians are threatened during the confrontation, Zhan Zhao ultimately chooses to save them rather than protect himself, leading to his capture.

As Huo Linglong escapes, she is pursued by her fiancé Shao Jizu, whose relentless attempts to force her back further emphasize her desire to break free from the restrictive life imposed upon her. During this stage of the story, she receives help from Bai Yutang — the charismatic “White Jade Mouse” played by Fang Yilun.

Under Bai Yutang’s guidance, Huo Linglong gradually learns to fight back instead of merely running away.

Eventually, she defeats Shao Jizu and joins forces with Bai Yutang to rescue Zhan Zhao. From that point onward, the three officially form an alliance, becoming the drama’s central investigative trio as they work together to uncover the full extent of Prince Xiangyang’s conspiracy.
